MC falls to Sewanee 3-1

The University of the South used a pair of goals by sophomore Shelby Meckstroth to give the Maryville College women's soccer program their second loss of the season on Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama.

 

Meckstroth found Natasha Saunders for the games first goal in the 16th minute and Baker Walls assisted in a Meckstroth goal just ten minutes later.

 

Maryville's Allyson Hale cut the 2-0 lead in half with an unassisted goal just before the half, but Meckstroth deposited her eighth goal of the season just before the final horn.

 

The Tigers out shot the Scots 33-10 with MC keeper Rachel Taylor securing 10 saves in 45 minutes of work.

 

Sewanee advances to 4-0 on the season while Maryville falls to 1-2. MC will challenge Birmingham Southern at 1:00 on Sunday to complete their Alabama swing.
