Scots fall to Sewanee 1-0

Box Score

The Maryville College women's soccer team conceded an early goal in the first half and could not battle back, suffering a 1-0 loss at the hands of the University of the South (Sewanee) on Friday evening in Sewanee, Tennessee.

In a wet and foggy match on the mountain, Sewanee's Tyler Edell deposited an unassisted goal at the 23:17 mark following a first half where the Tigers out shot the Scots 8-4. Sewanee keeper Savannah earned the win in net after recording four saves in the first half.

Maryville could not find the open net in the second half after four additional shots on goal. The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Scots, moving MC to 7-3 on the season.

The Tiger victory gives Sewanee a 4-3 record overall.

The Scots will now prepare for a USA South home stand when they host North Carolina Wesleyan and Mary Baldwin next Friday and Sunday.
