Box Score The Maryville College women's soccer team completed a tough USA South road trip sweep this weekend with a 5-0 shutout of Averett University on Saturday evening.
MC's Sierra Siegel moved to 5th in career goals, career, assists, and career points within the Scots' record book with a pair of goals and an assist against the Cougars.
Maryville took an early 1-0 lead when Siegel found Mackenzie Hutton on a corner kick at the 1:55 mark. Hutton's goal was her first of the season while Sierra dished out her 11th assist of her senior campaign.
At the 12:28 mark, Allyson Hale deposited a cross from the left side and Siegel beat Cougar keeper Bailee Brown with her 9th goal of the season.
Just five minutes later Siegel connected for a blast in the center of the box to give Maryville a 3-0 lead. Her goal was the 10th of the season and 53rd of her stellar career.
Maryville's Jordyn Lee completed their scoring in the first half with an unassisted goal at the 43:10 mark. Her goal was Lee's 4th of the season.
The Scots got a great deal of players experience in the second half with Miranda Lukas taking an Allyson Hale pass off a corner at the 64:40 mark. Lukas' header was her 2nd goal of the season while Hale's assist was her 5th of her senior season.
Mandy Marshall and Rachel Taylor shared the shutout in net for the Scots. The duo turned away each of Averett's three shots on goal for the victory.
Sierra Siegel passed Wall of Fame inductee Julie Dingels and tied Crystal Buckey and Kelly Smelser with her 53rd career goal. Her 28th career assist tied Buckey while her 134th career point passes Dingels and ties Buckey. Each milestone is ranked 5th all-time in the Scots' record books.
The loss moves Averett to 2-11-2 on the season and 2-8-1 in USA South play. Maryville maintains their hold on third place in the USA South standings with a 12-3-1 record while going 9-1-1 in league play.
The Scots will prepare for their final regular season challenge on Wednesday, October 28th at Covenant College.
