Box Score The Maryville College baseball team extended their win streak to five games following a series sweep of Greensboro College with a 10-8 win on Monday evening on MC's Scotland Yard.
Trailing 5-2 after five innings, the Scots used a seven-run explosion in the bottom of the sixth. MC tallied all seven runs on six hits while taking advantage of a pair of Pride miscues. Key two-out singles by Sam Jokerst, Nick Dean and Chris Ervin each scored a pair of runs with each base hit.
A 9-5 Maryville lead was short live after Greensboro's offensive seventh. A Jay Cumbo RBI single and a two-out double by Brandon Sode sent a pair of runs home. The Scots took a 9-8 lead into the final two innings.
MC pushed across an insurance run in the eighth when Chris Ervin sent Nick Reynolds home on a sacrifice fly to centerfield to complete the scoring.
Greensboro's Jeff Waring (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season after scattering 13 hits over 5.2 innings of work. The right-hander struck out three while allowing four earned runs.
Maryville's Jerod Dickey picked up his first win of the season with 2.1 innings of relief of Lawson Wishard. Dickey allowed only a pair of hits while giving up three earned runs. Wishard had a quality start after going four innings and striking out four. Alex Torres, Cody Akers, and Tyler Hopkins combined for 2.2 innings of closing relief allowing only a pair of hits. Hopkins tallied his third save after a four-batter ninth.
Greensboro (5-4, 5-4 USA South) finished with a ten hit attack paced by Brandon Sode and Kyle Willard who each tallied three hits.
Maryville (6-4, 5-4 USA South) had a 15 hit attack led by Nick Dean's 4-for-4, 2 RBI evening. Logan Jenkins, Greg Vourloumis, Chris Ervin, and Evan Ezell each added a pair of hits.
The Scots will travel to Berry College on Tuesday for a non-conference challenge against the Vikings. First pitch in Rome, Georgia is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
