Box Score The Maryville College baseball team fell to 8-5 on the season following a 7-3 loss at the hands of LaGrange College in LaGrange, Georgia on Sunday afternoon.
The setback snaps a seven-game winning streak, but the Scots secured their third consecutive USA South series win with a pair of wins on Saturday.
MC took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Logan Jenkins doubled down the left field line to score Evan Ezell and Sam Jokerst.
LaGrange lit up the scoreboard for seven runs in the top of the fourth when the Panthers chased MC starter Lawson Wishard and reliever Bill Woodroof with five hits while capitalizing on a pair of Scots errors.
Maryville's only additional run came in the bottom of the fourth when Ezell sent Greg Vourloumis home with a sacrifice fly.
Wishard suffered the loss on the mound falling to 1-2 on the season. The left-hander tossed three innings allowing four hits and three earned runs while walking four.
The Scots' offense tallied 11 hits with Logan Jenkins, Chris Ervin, and Greg Vourloumis each recording a pair of hits. Jenkins and Ervin stroked a double each while Vourloumis legged out a triple.
The Scots will look to get into the win column on Wednesday when they travel to Danville, Kentucky to challenge the Colonels of Centre College at 5:30.
