Emory's bats too much for Scots on Senior Day

Box Score

The Emory University Eagles used a 17-hit attack to defeat the Maryville College Scots by the score of 12-4 on Scotland Yard on Sunday afternoon.

Emory used a two-out rally in their first plate appearance to post a 4-0 lead. Following a pair of groundouts, the Eagles put together five consecutive hits off MC starter Jeremy Ibarra including a two-RBI double by Wilson Morgan for the early advantage.

Maryville tallied a run on a Zack Blonder fielder's choice to close the first inning of scoring.

The Eagles went up 5-1 on a Nick Chambers sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning.

The Scots' Nick Dean deposited his seventh homerun of the season in the bottom of the third to make the score 5-2.

A run scoring opposite field single by Dylan Eisner chased Maryville reliever Evan Heffner in the sixth helping Emory to a 6-2 lead. Emory tacked on a pair of unearned runs after two Scots' fielding miscues.

Trailing 8-2, Maryville could not find their offense while the Eagles added four runs in the eighth. RBI singles by Cody Wetmore and Wilson Morgan were followed by a bases loaded walk and sacrifice fly to make the score 12-2.

MC rallied for a pair of runs in their final at bat on a Logan Jenkins sacrifice fly and a Zack Blonder infield single RBI.

Emory's Matt Randolph earned the win on the mound with 2.1 innings of three-hit relief. The Eagles' six-man staff held the Scots to 11 hits while striking out seven.

Maryville's Jeremy Ibarra suffered only his third loss of the season after allowing five earned runs on nine hits in three innings. The Scots' seven pitchers surrendered 17 hits and nine earned runs on the afternoon.

The Eagles' 17-hit attack was paced by Dylan Eisner and Wilson Morgan who each finished with three hits. Maryville was led at the plate by Nick Dean's 3-for-5 performance that included a solo homerun.

MC will travel on Wednesday to challenge NCAA Division I foe Northern Kentucky University. First pitch is slated for 3:00.
