Box Score The Maryville College women's soccer team used a hat trick by senior Allyson Hale to record their fourth consecutive win with a 5-1 victory over USA South foe LaGrange College on Wednesday evening on the MC campus.
In the eighth minute, senior attacker Sierra Siegel split a pair of Panther defenders, dribbled past the last line of defense and hit the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season.
Just six minutes later Lizzy Simmons found a streaking Allyson Hale on the left side. Hale blasted a shot left to right striking the lower corner of the net for her sixth goal of the year.
At the 24:36 mark, LaGrange's defense collapsed on Hale. She sent a crossing pass as the goalie attacked to Kirsten Alcorn and the sophomore tallied her first goal of the season.
Leading 3-0, MC's Mackenzie Hutton led a perfect crossing pass right to left to Hale. The South Pittsburg native dropped her seventh goal of the season making the score 4-0.
Just before the half, LaGrange ruined the potential shutout when Tori Cutlip lifted a corner into the box and Sydney Aronson directed a header past MC keeper Mandy Marshall.
At the 46 minute mark in the second half, Hale completed the hat trick. She dribbled from the mid-field striking the net with a strong left foot for an unassisted goal, her eighth of the year.
The loss moves LaGrange to 3-8 on the season and 2-3 in USA South play. Maryville's victory gives them a 7-2 overall record while going 4-1 in league action.
The Scots will now prepare to travel to the University of the South (Sewanee) on Friday.
