Box Score The Maryville College women's soccer team recorded their fifth consecutive shutout while earning a 3-0 USA South road victory over Wesleyan College (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon.
The Scots tallied the eventual game-winner just before the 21st minute when Natasha Enrique pushed a breakaway unassisted goal past Wesleyan keeper Alyssa Whitford for her second goal of the season.
Only two minutes later MC's Casey Gentile placed a penalty kick into the goal for her second goal of the season.
Maryville's 2-0 lead at the half was supported by their 12-2 shot advantage.
The Scots only goal in the second half, despite a 24-0 shot advantage, was an unassisted goal by Taylor Wipf in the 50th minute. The goal was Wipf's first of the 2016 campaign.
The Scots out shot Wesleyan 36-2 on the afternoon with Wesleyan keeper Whitford recording 13 saves on 16 shots on goal.
Maryville keepers Rachel Taylor and Mandy Marshall shared the shutout in net. MC's defense has held opponents scoreless over their last 470 minutes of action.
The loss moves Wesleyan to 3-6 overall and 1-6 in USA South play. MC advances to 4-5-1 and 4-2-1 in league play.
The Scots will prepare to host USA South foes LaGrange and Huntingdon next weekend.
