Box Score Maryville College's second-longest streak of shutouts ended on Wednesday night, as the Covenant College Scots defeated MC, 1-0.
Maryville's streak of scoreless minutes ended at 685:30 against Covenant, as it ranks the second-longest shutout streak in school history. Only 2009's streak of 1,000 minutes ranks longer, when Maryville went on a 10-game shutout streak.
The Orange and Garnet saw their streak end during the 34th minute of action against the Georgian Scots. Rebekah Gravitt collected a deflection off the Maryville keeper from Anna Porch. He shot found the net, securing the win, 1-0.
Maryville College outshot Covenant, 11-7, but only one of MC's shots was on goal. Two Covenant shots reached the keeper, as only one slipped past.
Maryville outpaced Covenant 7-4 in the second half, as MC came the closest to scoring during the 86th minute of action. Miranda Lukas' header hit off the crossbar.
Lukas and Kaitlyn Kennedy each led the Scots with three shots each.
With Wednesday's loss, Maryville falls to 6-6-1 and 6-3-1 in the USA South Athletic Conference. Covenant moves to 11-2, 9-1, as their only conference loss comes at the hands of Maryville.
Maryville will have a day off before hosting Agnes Scott College on Friday night at 6 p.m. The Scots will take on Wesleyan College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
