Box Score The Maryville College women's soccer squad claimed a key USA South match on Saturday afternoon at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia.
Both defenses were on point the first half. The Lions out-shot the Scots 3-2 with MC's key defenders Eleni Mavres, Mackenzie Hutton, and Miranda Lukas combining forces with Marshall in net to secure the first half shutout.
As the second half fast approached overtime, Maryville's Miranda Lukas lifted a free kick into the back post. At the 73rd minute, sophomore Natasha Enrique poked the ball in from the ensuing scramble for her team-leading sixth goal of the season and her third game-winner of the fall campaign.
Mandy Marshall earned her sixth shutout of the season thwarting each of five Piedmont's attacks on goal. The senior ends the regular season with 48 saves on the season
The victory moves Maryville to 9-7-1 on the season and 9-4-1 in USA South action. The win secures the Scots in fourth place in the USA South Western Division standings.
MC will now await seeding for the upcoming USA South set to begin next week.
