The Maryville College baseball team moved to 5-2 on the season after a double-header sweep of the University of the South (Sewanee) on Sunday by the scores of 11-3 and 10-3 in Sewanee, Tennessee.
In game one, the Scots took advantage of four Tiger miscues while pounding out ten hits to win their fourth challenge of the season. Maryville left-hander Lawson Wishard kept Sewanee off-balance scattering three hits over seven innings of work while striking out seven. He was supported offensively by Andrew Henry and Tyler Bigler each finishing 3-for-4. Zack Blonder added a 2-for-4 performance with a game-high three RBIs.
In the final game of the series five MC pitchers held the Tigers to only four hits over the seven inning contest. Jeremy Haggerty earned the win on the mound with three innings of one-hit work. Johnny Carpenter laced his first homerun as a Scot while finishing 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs. Senior first baseman Zack Blonder went 3-for-3 with two-runs scored and two RBIs.
Maryville (5-2) will now prepare to host MacMurray for a three-game series on Scotland Yard next Saturday and Sunday.
