Box Score The Maryville College baseball team increased their team batting average to .322 after pounding out 15 hits in a 15-1 USA South victory over Covenant College on Friday evening on MC's Scotland Yard.
Maryville's Seth Debity advanced to 4-1 on the season after scattering five hits over the first five innings, allowing only one unearned run. The senior struck out eight and relied on Zach Price, Rocky Mauriello, Zach McGee, and Nick McClendon to allow only a pair of hits over the final four innings to secure the league victory.
Maryville's Chris Ervin continued his torrid pace at the plate with a 3-for-4 effort. The designated hitter is hitting .423 on the season with a league leading 26 RBIs after depositing a three-run homerun in the first inning. Senior Zack Blonder (.411) scored four times after going 2-for-4 at the plate. Second baseman Clifton Dempsey raised his seasonal average to .484 after going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Maryville's team ERA has fallen to 3.38 as a staff and Debity is sporting a 1.11 ERA in 32.1 innings of work. He averages 9.19 strikeouts per nine innings this year.
MC will host Covenant for a double header on Saturday beginning at noon.
