Box Score Behind a complete game effort from Jeremy Ibarra and a three-run home run by Chris Ervin, the Maryville College baseball team earned their fourth consecutive victory with a 4-1 USA South win over Covenant College on Saturday afternoon on MC's Scotland Yard.
Ibarra surrendered an earned run in the second inning when Trenton Nobles drove in Alex Kerr with an RBI single. The senior right-hander from Anaheim, California promptly retired 20 of the next 23 hitters to earn the win. He scattered six hits while striking out two.
MC tied the game 1-1 in the sixth inning when Zack Blonder stole home on a designated double steal.
With both Ibarra and Covenant's Matt Reitz dealing on the mound, it took the eighth inning to put up crooked numbers on the scoreboard.
Maryville's Johnny Carpenter laced a one-out double before Blonder drew a walk. Ervin, hitting .429 on the season, took a 1-1 pitch over the left-center field wall plating his 29th RBI of the season.
Leading 4-1, Ibarra induced a double play and a ground out to record his third win of the season. He advances to 3-2 in 32 innings of work with a 4.13 ERA this season.
Maryville (13-3, 4-1 USAS) will conclude their series with the Georgian Scots (8-7, 2-3 USAS) at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
