Box Score The Maryville College baseball team fell to 24-13 (9-8 USA South) after the LaGrange College Panthers out paced the Scots 19-4 on Saturday afternoon at Cleaveland Field in LaGrange, Georgia.
The Panthers (27-10, 13-4 USA South) tallied 18 hits off four MC hurlers chasing starter Jeremy Ibarra (3-5) after two innings of work. LaGrange starter Ryan Broaderick (7-2) earned the win after allowing only five hits and a pair of runs in five innings of work.
The Scots' 10-hit attack was led by Logan Jenkins, Johnny Carpenter, and Sam Jokerst who each tallied a pair of hits. Carpenter and catcher Eric Hart each posted a pair of RBIs to account for MC's four runs.
For the second consecutive day, LaGrange took advantage of Maryville miscues. The Scots defense posted six errors on the day.
LaGrange's offense was paced by Blake Butcher (4-for-6, 3 runs), Joe Pradat (3-for-4), and Keith Sims (3-for-3, 3 RBI).
MC will look to rebound on Sunday for the final game of the USA South series. The loss drops Maryville to a tie for fourth in the USA South standings with Covenant and Methodist. The win solidifies LaGrange's hold on second place in the present standings. The final game of the series will begin with a 2:00 first pitch on Sunday. Maryville's final regular season game will be on Tuesday when they host Centre College at 4:00 p.m.
