Lions take second game of series 10-1

Box Score

The Piedmont College baseball team took the second game of a key USA South series with Maryville College by the score of 10-1 on MC's Scotland Yard Saturday afternoon.

The Scots' eight hit attack was powered by Andrew Henry and Alden Wright who each finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Piedmont's Ben McCurley (2-0) earned the win with a five inning start, scattering four hits and striking out six. Seth George earned his first save of the season with a four-inning relief gem allowing no earned runs while dispersing four hits.

Maryville's only run came in the third when Caleb Adams crossed the plate after a McCurley wild pitch.

The Lions tallied ten runs, seven earned off five MC hurlers. Anthony Rodriguez suffered his first collegiate loss after allowing one earned run off six Piedmont hits. Catcher Noah Heatherly and shortstop Caleb Norton paced the Lion's offensive attack with three hits apiece as the visitors finished with 14 total knocks.

The series will conclude on Sunday with a scheduled 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
