Key relief helps Scots rally late for 11-7 victory over Huntingdon

The Maryville College baseball team took the second game of a USA South series at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama by the score of 11-7 on Saturday afternoon.

 

Maryville's Jordan Norton tossed 2.2 innings of shutout middle relief to earn the win. Norton allowed only one hit handing off to fellow senior Joe Jones. Jones, the Scots' closer, went the final three innings scattering three hits to earn his fifth save of the season.

 

The Scots' eight-hit attack was paced by Drew Johnson (2-for-3) and McKenzie Jackson (2-for-4, 3 runs scored). In the leadoff role, Bryce Redaja went 1-for-2 with three runs scored and three runs driven in. Alden Wright tallied a pair of key RBIs in a 1-for-3 effort at the plate.

 

The win moves Maryville to 15-13 overall and 8-6 in USA South action. Huntingdon falls to 8-17, 5-6 in league play.

 

The final game of the series will take place Sunday with a 1:00 p.m (EST) first pitch.
