Box Score The Maryville College women's soccer program fell to 3-4 on the season after dropping a 2-0 non-conference decision to The University of the South on Sunday on MC's home pitch.
Sewanee earned a free-kick following a penalty at the top left of the keeper box. At the 9:06 mark, Chloe Thomson directed a blow saved by MC keeper Abbey Coleman. Coleman could not maintain possession and Gillian Campbell collected the rebound for the eventual game-winning goal.
The Scots outshot the Tigers 5-2 at the half but trailed 1-0 on the scoreboard.
In the second half, Maryville maintained their offensive pressure, but eight shots did not find their mark.
Just before the 52nd minute in the second half, a through ball was recovered by Sewanee's Sam Morgan. Morgan caught the keeper high in the box and attempted a shot. The blocked shot rebounded behind the keeper and Morgan put it in the net for her first goal of the season.
Sewanee's Hanna Judycki and Abigail Frazier shared the shutout in net by turning away a pair of shots on goal each from the Scots.
Maryville's 13 shots were paced by Bailey Sipos' three attempts. Zoe Van Hook, Meagan Eiselstein, Shannon Reagan, and Hannah Clothier each had a pair of shots.
The victory moves Sewanee to 1-7-2 on the season while Maryville falls to 3-4-0.
The Scots will prepare to host USA South rival Berea College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
