Box Score Maryville College's Jordan Davis was dominant on the mound while the Scots' offense banged out 16 hits to defeat MacMurray College 17-2 in their home opener on Scotland Yard on Saturday afternoon.
Davis, a senior right-hander, allowed only a pair of hits over seven innings of work while striking out nine. Damian Lusby and Devin Colligan closed the game on the mound with a hitless inning each. Lusby struck out the side in the eighth inning.
The Scots' 16-hit attack was paced by shortstop Gabe Lopez. The sophomore finished 4-of-6 with a pair of RBI with a trio of runs scored including a thrilling inside-the-park home run off the centerfield wall. Jimmy Meredith, Derek Hurt, Cody Gregory, and Ian Campbell each tallied a pair of hits with Campbell and Hurt combining for five runs driven in. MC deposited five doubles led by Campbell's pair of gappers.
The win advanced the Scots to 3-1 on the season while MacMurray (0-1) dropped their season opener.
