Trio of freshmen record goals in MC's 5-0 victory over Wesleyan (Ga.)

The Maryville College women's soccer program pitched another shutout on defense allowing the Scots to earn their 8^th consecutive victory with a 5-0 win over USA South foe Wesleyan College (Ga.) on Sunday.

Maryville outshot the Wolves 30-1 with 14 blasts on frame.

The Scots recorded a trio of first-half goals. Jenna Clothier connected on her 5^th goal of the season and her 17^th career blast in the 20^th minute for the eventual game-winner. Katie O'Brien pushed one past Wesleyan keeper Sha Sha Edouard in the 36^th minute for the freshman's 4^th goal of the season. Fellow collegiate rookie Alex Smith tallied her 2^nd goal of the season just before the half.

Freshman Hailey Cartt connected for her 4^th goal of the season in the 65^th minute. The Scots concluded their 40 goals in their past five matches with a Sydney O'Hara strike in the 79^th minute. The goal was O'Hara's 4^th of her career and 2^nd this season.

Sophie Turner and Abbey Coleman shared the shutout victory in net.

Maryville (8-0) will return to action next weekend, March 13^th, when they host USA South rival Berea College at 2:00 p.m.
