MARYVILLE – Chase Morgan has put a stranglehold on the Collegiate Conference of the South's Rookie of the Week Award.
Morgan won for the third consecutive week after posting his first double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds in Maryville's only game played. The Scots on Tuesday defeated rival Covenant 103-99 in triple-overtime.
It was Morgan's second straight game with 20 points and his sixth in a row in double figures. Morgan's season scoring average is up to its highest point of the year at 8.5.
During this recent six-game run, which has seen the Scots go 6-0 to take over first place in the CCS, Morgan is averaging 14.7 points and 5.7 rebounds.
Maryville stands 8-2 with two games remaining. The Scots can clinch the inaugural CCS regular season crown with wins either Wednesday at Berea (7 p.m.) or Saturday at Piedmont (4 p.m.). Conference tournament play begins next week.
