EAST RIDGE, Tenn. – All six Maryville runners recorded new personal records Friday morning, as the Scots Competed in the UTC Home Cross Country Meet at Camp Jordan.
"I am very proud of our athletes today," Maryville head coach
Kaitlyn Carringer-Adams said after the meet. "For the last two weeks, I have been telling my athletes that our goal for this race was to use the fast competition and flat course to help push themselves to a PR- and that's exactly what every single runner did."
Maryville was led by
Isabelle Juda and
Megan Shinn, who finished in 21st and 22nd place, respectively. Juda finished the 6K course with a time of 25:40.0 while Shinn ran for a mark of 25:48.5. Both figures represent PRs for the runners.
Madison Smith,
RaeEllen Coffey, and
Kaitlyn Smith followed up the Scots leaders, finishing 38th, 39th and 40th, respectively.
Madison Smith ran a time of 33:43.2, Coffey finished with a mark of 34:28.3 while
Kaitlyn Smith was right behind with a time of 34:37.9.
Alicia Perez rounded out the Scots lineup, finishing 42nd with a mark of 36:01.8
"Izzy and Megan worked together to beat their previous times and the other team members ran anywhere from two to seven minutes faster than their previous PRs," Carringer-Adams said. "Most athletes do not PR by minutes, and it's even more rare for an entire team to do so. Today was another great testament of how hard work has paid off for this group."
This was Maryville's final meet of the regular season. The Scots will now shift their focus to the Collegiate Conference of the South Championships, taking place Friday, November 1, at the Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi.
