Team Quotes:
Men's Team:
Coach Carringer-Adams "I couldn't be happier with how the athletes performed today. The men's team broke the team time average school record again (this time by 26 seconds) with a time of 29:06. We would have loved to place first at our home race, but when the team runs the fastest the team or any Maryville team has ran in school history, all you can do is be proud of that!
We had 6 PRs and 1 SB today and just a great effort overall. Our next three races are on fast courses with large competition so I am exited to see the times and placements continue to progress as we enter the last stretch of the season."
Tyler Tangel - "I felt we had a great performance as a team and showed up when it mattered. I am so proud of how far we have come and we have had a ton of PRs this race which is what you love to see! I am also very thankful to Coach Adams for giving us workouts and strategies to give us a real advantage at our course."
Women's Team:
Coach Carringer-Adams "The women's team has faced injuries this season, but came together strong today! Their performance based off time was the best team time average the program has seen since 2022. On top of that Megan Shinn ran a PR and is tied for the #6 best performer in programs history for the 6k. Addison Goodwin, Charlotte Wilson, and Eleni Johnson all ran PRs today as well.
Madison Smith - "i'm so incredibly proud of my entire team. by no means is our course easy but i watched every single person really push themselves today. Through literal blood, sweat, and tears — everyone gave it their all and i couldn't be happier with them."
Maryville will return to competition next weekend as both teams continue to build momentum heading into the upcoming Collegiate Conference of The South Championships later this month. Both teams will race at the South Region Showdown in Salem, Va. hosted by Roanoke on Oct. 18th.
