Box Score JACKSON, Miss. – Maryville College dropped its first conference match of the season on Saturday, falling 4-0 to Belhaven University at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
Despite the scoreline, Maryville created several chances — led by Hannah Smoot, who recorded a pair of shots on goal. The Scots outshot the Blazers 7-8 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Goalkeeper Kristen Burns made two saves in the full 90 minutes of play.
With the result, Maryville moves to 7-6 overall and 5-1 in CCS play, while Belhaven improves to 9-3-2 and 5-1 in the league. The Scots return home next week looking to bounce back and stay in the hunt for the conference's top spot.
