Womens Soccer Stays Perfect in CCS with Win at Asbury

Box Score

WILMORE, Ky. — The Maryville College women's soccer team extended its dominant run with a 2-0 victory at Asbury on Wednesday night, pushing the Scots' win streak to six straight and keeping them perfect in conference play.

Avery Brown got Maryville on the board early, finding the back of the net in the 15th minute to give the Scots an early lead they would not relinquish. Hannah Smoot sealed the result late in the second half, calmly converting a penalty kick in the 78th minute to make it 2-0.

Maryville controlled play from start to finish, outshooting Asbury 30-3 and earning 14 corner kicks to none for the hosts. Goalkeeper Kristen Burns recorded her sixth shutout of the season, stopping all three shots she faced as the Scots' back line once again held firm.

With the win, Maryville improved to 7-5 overall and 5-0 in the Collegiate Conference of the South, holding first place in the standings. Over their six-game winning streak, the Scots have outscored opponents 29-2, showcasing both attacking firepower and defensive consistency.

Maryville will look to keep its unbeaten conference streak alive when it heads to Belhaven this weekend for another key CCS matchup.
