Last season, Coach Clint Helton's squad posted a 30-14 (14-3) record, the first time for Maryville to eclipse 30 wins, and swept the regular season and tournament CCS titles. The previous best win total came in 2016 with 29 wins. It was the first regular season championship for the Scots since 2007. Coach Helton was named the CCS Coach of the Year after being picked to finish fifth in the preseason.Â
Coach Helton's teams have improved every year under his leadership, not only in statistical categories but in wins as well. Eliminating the COVID-shortened 2021 season, Maryville has increased its win total by at least four games each season and by eight from 2020 to 2022.
Fontbonne finished last season with a 14-26 overall record and 8-10 in conference play. These will also be the Griffins' first games of the year.Â

It is a Valentine's Day first pitch for the Maryville Scots. Maryville opens its 2025 softball campaign hosting No. 15-ranked Berry in a Friday afternoon doubleheader. Start time is 4 p.m. This twin bill originally was scheduled for Sunday but moved two days earlier to avoid forecasted rains.

The Scots under third-year head coachÂ
Jill Moore are coming off a memorable season that saw them earn the No. 21 ranking in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll. Maryville set program records for season wins and winning percentage, finishing 35-13 (.729) and reaching the brink of an NCAA regional championship. A heartbreaking 7-6 loss followed by a second loss to sixth-ranked Berry in the regional final round denied Maryville its first NCAA Super Regional appearance.
Â
In the CCS tournament, Maryville went 4-0 with two victories against a Belhaven team that went on to play for the national championship. Maryville evened up the season series against the Blazers by defeating them 6-3 in 13 innings and then 6-5 in the championship game.
And now, it is a brand new season.
