SEWANEE, Tenn. – Maryville competed its way to a second-place result Saturday at the Sewanee Invitational.

Elvin Wagner won the long jump with a distance of 5.88m and added a third-place finish in the triple jump with a clearance of 12.23m. Those results contributed 16 points to Maryville's final team total of 83. He just missed scoring in the pole vault with a PR clearance of 2.70m.

Zyon Rockett scored eight points with a personal record and second-place finish in the long jump. The first-year athlete cleared 5.86m, with
Nolan Hutson completing a 1-2-3 Scots finish in the long jump by clearing 5.03m for a personal record of his own.

Hutson with those six points shared eight more when he helped the Scots place second in the 4x400m relay. Maryville posted a time of 4:05.23, with the team consisting of
Teddy Orton,
Julian Martinez, Hutson and
Logan Barger.

Orton contributed eight more points individually with a second-place finish in the 55m hurdles. His time of 8.00 in the final was both a PR and a school record.

Barger and Tory Crenshaw finished 5-6 and both posted PRs in the 55m dash. Barger crossed the line in 6.87 seconds, with Crenshaw a fraction behind at 6.89. Rockett placed just out of the points with a ninth-place result in 7.04 seconds.

John Siepert ran to a sixth-place finish in the 200m dash, posting a time of 24.67 seconds. In the 800m run,
James LeNeve was third in 2:08.76 for both a PR and a school record, while three more Scots cracked the top 10.
Sam Cocchia was sixth in 2:14.82,
Terry Gonzalez seventh with a PR time of 2:20.91, and
Gustavo Hernandez ninth in 2:32.62.

In the mile,
Tyler Tangel took top honors for the Scots by placing 11th and crossing with a PR time of 4:58.25. Tangel came back in the distance medley relay to lead the Scots to a third-place result in a PR and school-record time of 11:59.51. Running with Tangel were LeNeve, Cocchia and
Steve Cope.

Back to the field events,
Cam Robinson brought home a sixth-place finish in the weight throw after his toss of 11.63m.
Jaden Marlin was close behind in eighth place after his throw of 11.30m.

Marlin finished ahead of Robinson in the shot put, placing fifth with a heave of 11.66m to Robinson's 11.09m.

The Scots compete in their final indoor meet of the spring next weekend when they return to Kentucky for the Centre Last Chance. Next weekend also marks the outdoor opener at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals, hosted by Berry.
