A tough match up for the Scots as they fell to Transylvania 11-1 in the midweek game. Coming off of only one days rest after a long weekend in North Carolina, Maryville couldn't keep up with the Pioneers who had an additional day to prepare. MC could only manage one run on one hit through eight inning of play, coming on
Colin Dunworth's' first at bat of the game. Dunworth singled to right field after
Reece Jordan was based on balls and
Frank Derner was hit by a pitch. Dunworth's hit scored Jordan from third after he had stolen second and advanced to third on a fly out by
AJ Finco. That ended the day's events for the Scots, as the Pioneers run-ruled Maryville after scoring eleven straight runs to end the game in the eighth inning.
The baseball Scots begin conference play today against Belhaven. The Blazers enter today's games at 10-5 overall and riding a two game win streak, most recently defeating Mississippi University for Women 5-4 on Tuesday and winning a series last weekend against LeTourneau, claiming two out of three games.
The Scots are 11-4 after falling to Transylvania.
