MARYVILLE – The Maryville Scots made the most of their home environment here Saturday, breaking records and recording first-place moments all around the Austin Coleman Piper Memorial Track.

The two-day, non-team scoring event welcomed athletes from Berea, Carson-Newman, Sewanee, Wilmington, and the Tennessee Running Club for its third annual competition.

Day 2 of the Scots Invitational coincided with Senior Day, as Director of Track and Field
Kunle Lawson recognized six seniors and their families on the track infield just before the conclusion of racing.

Ty Hylwa,
Bonnie Lauderback,
Tyrika Small and
Elvin Wagner were recognized and thanked for the contributions they have made in helping put the third-year programs on solid ground.

First-Place Finishers in Field Events
On the women's side, first-place finishes went to
Hailee Hardman in the high jump and
Abbey Cox in the shot put. Hardman tied a school record and cleared a personal record 1.50m for her victory, while Cox won with a toss of 10.77m.
Rachel Dunbar finished third in the shot put at 10.14m.

The women's 4x800m relay team of
Megan Shinn,
Madison Smith,
Kaitlyn Smith and
RaeEllen Coffey ran solo but still clocked a school record time of 13 minutes and 36.90 seconds. And
Mariah Thornton set a school mark in the 100m hurdles by clocking 17.78 seconds.

For the men, Barrett won the high jump to go with his Friday afternoon victory in the triple jump. His high jump clearance was 1.56m.
Jacob Faulkner and
Zyon Rockett finished 1-2 in the long jump, with Faulkner leaping 5.99m and Rockett clearing a PR of 5.88m. Wagner finished fourth at 5.56m and Barrett was fifth at 5.48m.

Teddy Orton,
John Siepert, Hylwa and Faulkner finished 1-2-3-4 in the 110m hurdles. Orton crossed in 15.59 seconds, followed by Siepert in 15.61, Hylwa in a PR 17.34 and Faulker in 21.95. And the 4x800m relay team of
James LeNeve,
Wyatt Crider,
Paul Kanios and
Sam Cocchia took first place with a time of 8:54.37.

Cope Keeps Running
Steve Cope finished second in the 5000m run with a PR and school record time of 16:53.61. And LeNeve set a school mark and a PR with his time of 2:05.11 in the 800m run, good for ninth place.

Other women's finishers of note included Cox placing second in the discus with a toss of 35.87m, and
Alana Rodriguez and Hardman finishing 3-4 in the long jump. Rodriguez posted a season-best leap of 4.74m, while Hardman's 4.71m was a PR. In the javelin, Lauderback placed second with a throw of 24.24m and
Adaline Clouse was fourth at 22.42m.

Coffee and
Kaitlyn Smith finished 3-4 in the 3000m steeplechase. Coffee crossed the line in 17:15.34, with Smith close behind in 17:26.29.
Mariah Thornton was fourth in the 100m hurdles with a PR clocking of 17.78 seconds, and
Harmonee King was fourth in the 100m dash after crossing in 13.46 seconds.

Thornton came back to place sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:21.81. Rodriguez finished third and King sixth in the 200m dash, with Rodriguez crossing in 27.37 seconds and King in 28.33 seconds. And Maryville's 4x100m relay team of Rodriguez, Lauderback, Thornton and King placed second with a time of 53.74 seconds.

Men's finishers of note included
Josh Lay in fourth and
Cam Robinson seventh in the shot put. Lay posted 12.35m and Robinson turned in 11.53m. Robinson came back to place fifth in the discus with a toss of 37.57m, with
Jaden Marlin next in sixth place with a PR of 36.76m.

Five of Six Finishers in Pole Vault
In the pole vault, Maryville just missed the winning clearance but posted the next five finishers. Faulker was second with a PR of 3.80m, followed by
Nolan Hutson in third at 2.90m. Cocchia finished fourth with a PR of 2.60m, Wagner was fifth at 2.60m and Hernandez sixth with a PR of 2.60m.

Cope finished third in the 3000m steeplechase with a clocking of 10:27.47. Cocchia finished seventh in a PR of 11:40.11, with Kanios eighth in 11:45.80 and Hernandez ninth in a PR of 11:45.98. The MC 4x100m relay team of Orton, Barrett, Hylwa and
Toreaun Crenshaw finished a close second in 44.21 seconds for a season-best time.

Crenshaw was fifth in the 100m dash after crossing the line in 11.41 seconds, and he came back in the 200m dash to finish fourth with a PR time of 23.08. Rockett was seventh in the 200m with a time of 23.65 seconds.

Maryville put three of the top six finishers across the line in the 400m hurdles, with Siepert second in 59.80 seconds, Orton third in a season-best 59.81 seconds and Hylwa sixth in 1:04.95. In the 800m run, LeNeve grabbed ninth with a PR of 2:05.11.
Julian Martinez finished eighth in the 400m run after clocking 57.06 seconds.

Maryville competes next Saturday at the Mountain Laurel Invitational, hosted by Sewanee. The Scots then set their sights on the Collegiate Conference of the South Championships, set for April 23-24 at the Austin Coleman Piper Memorial Track.
