Dunworth and Helton Earn CCS Superlatives

Six Scots Earn All-CCS Honors

MARYVILLE - Junior Colin Dunworth was voted the CCS Player of the Year, while Head Coach Clint Helton was voted Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Three Scots were named to the All-CCS First Team, and three more were named to the All-CCS Second Team.

Colin Dunworth, Reece Jordan, and Kyle Timko all earned first team honors, while Ashton Whiteaker, Brayden Evans, and Matt Hall were named to the second team. Hall was also named to the CCS All-Sportsmanship team.

Dunworth earned Player of the Year after stellar campaign.  The center fielder was a force both offensively and defensively, finishing the season with a .374 batting average, good for top 10 in the conference and second on his team. Dunworth led the CCS in slugging percentage (.632) and ranked second in OPS (1.090), while tying for the league lead with seven home runs. His 58 hits were second-most in the conference, and he also drove in 35 runs, placing him fourth overall. The junior from Nolensville stole 12 bases and recorded 81 putouts in 85 chances with a .965 fielding percentage.

Coach Helton earned his second consecutive Coach of the Year honor after leading the Scots to back-to-back regular season titles and tying the program's single-season wins record (30) — a mark he originally set just last year — with postseason play still ahead. Despite losing 14 seniors from the 2024 squad, Helton retooled his roster and guided Maryville to a 15-3 CCS record, winning all but one conference series and sweeping all but two. Under his leadership, the Scots have gone 29-6 in CCS play over the past two seasons.

Sophomore Reece Jordan led the team and was third overall in the conference in batting average this year with a .410 average overall and a .486 average in conference play, and led the CCS with 34 walks. The Junior from Chattanooga also ranked third in the conference with 57 total hits, and sixth in runs scored at 39. His 22 stolen bases ranked second in the league, and his on base percentage of .517 ranked third. Defensively, Jordan was first in the conference with 121 assists and 3rd in double plays.

Junior Ace Kyle Timko earned first team honors after leading the conference in wins (6) and second in looking strikeouts with 20. Batters hit .265 against Timko this year, good for eighth in the CCS. He was also sixth in the league with 51 strikeouts.

Senior catcher Ashton Whiteaker earned second team honors after an impressive year behind the plate. Whiteaker tied for first place in the conference with seven home runs and fourth with 35 RBIs. He ranked 10th in total bases and slugging percentage. Defensively, he ranked fifth in the conference in put outs with 234, and caught the second most runners stealing at 12.

Short Stop Brayden Evans earned second team honors after ranking fifth in the conference in assists with 101. Offensively, Evans batted .337 for the year and .413 in conference play.

Senior Matt Hall doubled down on awards, being named to both the All-CCS second team and the CCS All-Sportsmanship team. Hall at third base started and played in all but one game this season (39), had three triples on the year (5th in the league), and ranked fifth with 13 stolen bases.

Maryville opens postseason play as the number one seed in the CCS Tournament today at 3 PM against the Covenant College Scots
