MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The D3football.com 2025 preseason All-America team has been announced, with two Scots making the list.
Seniors
Grant Henderson and
Owen Sacks have earned the prestigious recognition, with Henderson being named to the First-Team Defense and Sacks being named to the Second-Team Offense.
In his junior year, Sacks helped the Scots lead the conference in total offense (425.7) and passing (281.3) and was one of the key reasons Maryville lowered quarterback sacks allowed from 29 in 2022 and 30 in 2023 – both 10-game seasons – to just 14 in 2024 during an 11-game season.
Henderson ranked fourth in the country in passes defended, which combines interceptions with pass breakups. The Miami native intercepted four passes and compiled 15 pass breakups. The latter figure missed by one of tying a Scots program record. He played in all 11 games for Maryville, finishing third on the team with 50 tackles. In the NCAA Division III Football Championship Second Round game at DePauw, Henderson led the Scots with nine tackles, eight of which were solo. He deflected two passes in that game to establish a personal season best of 15 and fall just one shy of the program mark set by Nick White in 1995. Henderson helped the Scots to rankings of 2nd in the country in defensive pass efficiency. 5th in first down defense, and 8th in total defense.
The Scots begin their 2025 campaign on Sep. 6 at Hendrix.
