MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Head Football Coach Ben Fox names Brian Milan as the new Defensive Backs Coach.
"We are thrilled to add Brian to our staff," Fox said. "Brian is a great coach, incredible teacher, caring mentor, and fierce competitor. Brian checked all the boxes of what we were looking for. He will be a huge asset to our program, and we are excited to get to work!"
With over 13 years of high school coaching experience across East Tennessee, Coach Milan brings a wealth of football knowledge, leadership, and a passion for player development to the field. His coaching career spans four respected programs—Unicoi County High School (3 years), Bearden High School (6 years), South-Doyle High School (2 years), and Farragut High School (2 years).

Throughout these stops, he has served in multiple leadership roles, including Assistant Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, and Special Teams Coordinator.
Coach Milan has had the privilege of mentoring numerous student-athletes who advanced to play at the collegiate level, as well as a few who reached the NFL—most notably Denver Broncos tight end Nate Adkins.
"I'm excited to be back on staff with Coach Fox and to learn under Coach Brumett," Milan said. "Before taking any job, I always ask, Would I let my son play for this head coach? With Coach Fox, the answer is absolutely—I'd be thrilled for him to coach my son. Thank you to Dr. Coker, Dr. Wu, and Coach Fox for this opportunity, and to Morgan Shinlever and the many coaches who have invested in me along the way. Go Scots!"
In 2021, Coach Milan returned to his collegiate roots to serve as the Running Backs Coach at Maryville College, where he once played as a wide receiver under former head coach Tony Ireulli from 2007–2008 after being recruited as an athlete.
A multi-sport standout in high school, Coach Milan earned All-Region First Team honors in football, basketball, and tennis for three consecutive years. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from East Tennessee State University and earned both a Master's degree in Education and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree from Lincoln Memorial University.
Off the field, Coach Milan is a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Serena have been married for 16 years and are proud parents to their two children, Harper (13) and Hudson (9).
