2025 Schedule
MARYVILLE – It's a new ball game for Maryville Football in 2025.
Coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history, Maryville jumps into its debut campaign as the newest member of the Southern Athletic Association. The Scots won the 2024 USA South championship with a perfect 7-0 record, won an NCAA playoff game for the first time, and finished 9-2 to reach nine wins in a season for the second time in history and the first time since 1946.
Now it's a new league, some amazing travel and plenty of familiar faces.
"Obviously, it's the first year in the new league and that is super exciting," Maryville head coach
Ben Fox said. "It's a chance for us to go play some new opponents as well as some traditional rivals. We're going to play in six different states this year, which is really cool for our players.
"It's going to be an incredible experience."
Wide Ranging Slate
Maryville has games scheduled in Arkansas (Hendrix), Ohio (Ohio Wesleyan), Mississippi (Millsaps), Texas (Southwestern) and Georgia (Berry), in addition to Tennessee. With seven opponents in the SAA, the Scots in Year 1 drew the short straw and play three games at home and four away. Maryville had to quickly amend its schedule to accommodate the new league and secured just one nonconference game at home, so the Scots in 2025 are playing four at home and six on the road.
"We're looking forward to flying for the first time in a really long time, and we really think this schedule is going to deliver an authentic college football experience to our guys," Fox said. "Our team is excited about the challenge it's going to present and they're working really hard.
"We're ready to go and excited to put our best foot forward in our first year in the SAA."

SAA opponents in bold.
Four of Maryville's top six all-time football opponents reside in the SAA, and the Scots faced three of them in 2024 – going 2-1. Maryville defeated Sewanee 23-9, lost at Centre 17-14 on a game-ending field goal, and won 20-16 at Berry for that initial victory in the NCAA Division III Football Championship playoffs.
"That was one of the biggest draws for us joining the SAA was the ability to be with a lot of like-minded schools that we have traditionally played in all sports, but especially in football, for a long time," Fox said. "Those games mean a lot to our alumni and they're going to mean a lot to our players.
"I really have a lot of respect for every coach that's in this new conference," Fox said. "There's the depth that is going to be in the SAA. Every team is good and well coached with talented players and they make you earn everything that you get. So it's going to be a great challenge for our team."
Home Opener Sept. 20
Maryville kicks off its 2025 season Sept. 6 at Hendrix, which announced last summer it was returning to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Association. Hendrix previously was a member of the SCAC from 1992-2012.
The Maryville home opener is Sept. 20 against Greensboro of the USA South. Homecoming is Oct. 11 against Centre.
"There are going to be some incredible atmospheres that will put the best of small college football on display," Fox said. "We can't wait."
