Six New Inductees will be Honored in October

Maryville College has a rich history of student-athletes, coaches, and contributors whose talent, leadership, and dedication have shaped the Scots' legacy across multiple sports. From multi-sport standouts and record-setting players to passionate coaches, announcers, and lifelong supporters, everyone celebrated in this years' wall of fame induction has left an impressive mark on the College's athletic programs. Their accomplishments on the field, court, and diamond, coupled with their commitment to excellence off the field, reflect the spirit, perseverance, and pride of Maryville College athletics.

Alicia Daugherty – Class of 2010
A two-sport standout for the Scots, Alicia Daugherty (Brown) shined on both the court and diamond from 2007-2010. On the court, Daugherty was a dominant point guard, earning All-Freshman honors in 2007, MVP in 2008, and ranking fourth in the nation in assists (2010) while helping the Scots reach the NCAA Tournament in 2009 and 2010.

On the diamond, Daugherty anchored center field, earning awards for both offense and defense while guiding the Scots to the 2007 NCAA tournament. A three-time Dean's List student, and multi-year All-Conference and All-Academic honoree, Alicia was celebrated for both her leadership, and her athletic ability.

After graduation, Daugherty returned to Clinton High School, where she coached softball from 2010-2014 and continues to serve as the Head Girls Basketball Coach.

Greg Judkins 1995-97, 2003-Present
For more than two decades, Greg Judkins has been the voice of Maryville College Athletics. Judkins first began announcing baseball games in the mid-1990s, then returned in 2004 to take on a regular role across multiple sports. Since then, Judkins has announced the action for football, basketball, baseball, and softball, later expanding his reach to include volleyball, soccer, and even track & field when the program returned in 2023.

In 2012, Judkins's dedication was recognized with the Ken Kribbs Award, honoring his service and commitment to the college. Judkin's true impact has been seen in the countless moments he has helped bring to life for athletes, coaches, and fans. Always striving to give Maryville his very best, Judkins has learned new sports, adapted new styles, and embraced every challenge with enthusiasm. From thrilling victories to milestone achievements, Judkins has become the unmistakable voice of the Maryville Scots.

Eryk Watson – Class of 2011
Eryk Watson is one of the most decorated players in Maryville College basketball history. A dynamic scorer and leader under coaches Randy Lambert and Kendal Wallace, Watson guided the Scots to three conference championships while building his legacy of excellence on the court.

From the moment he stepped on the hardwood, Watson stood out as he earned the 2008 Freshman of the Year honors prior to becoming the first four-time All-Conference player in school history. Watson's accolades include 2011 Conference Player of the Year, two-time All-American, two-time All-South Region, and three Conference Tournament MVP awards. Watson graduated as the program's second all-time leading scorer (1,943 points) and still holds the single-season record for three-pointers (94). His name remains across the record books: first in career free throws made (481), third in field goals (624), fourth in career threes (214), and top five in steals (184).

After Maryville, Watson went on to play professionally in Romania and Brazil and found success leading his own travel program, the E33 Eagles, to a 2021 National Championship. In 2020, Watson was honored as a Positive Coaching Alliance National Winner, recognizing his impact both on and off the court.

Nicole Brabender Samples – Class of 1999
A four-year starter for the Scots, Nicole Samples established herself as one of the most reliable and impactful players in Maryville College women's soccer history. Her consistency and leadership on the field were central to the program's success throughout her four years.

Samples is remembered as a teammate who helped shape the culture of Maryville soccer. She recalls her favorite memories not just in the victories, but in the experiences shared with her team. From the challenges of her first preseason runs to the unforgettable road trips and rap songs, to bonding moments like learning to quilt during J-term. Even after graduation, she continued to stay connected with the program, traveling with the team to Europe where the players nicknamed her "grandma." During her time at Maryville, Samples undoubtedly made her mark as one of the best women's soccer players to play on the field.

David Warwick – Class of 1974
David Warwick was a four-year starter and linebacker for the Maryville College football program from 1970–1973. A consistent force on the defensive side of the ball, Warwick was recognized as a co-Defensive MVP during his career and became a leader on and off the field. His ability to anchor the Scots' defense through multiple coaching transitions reflected both his talent and his dedication to the program.

After graduation, Warwick carried his passion for the game into a lifelong career in officiating. He served as a small-college football official for approximately seven years before devoting more than five decades to high school football as a Blount County/TSSAA official. In 2019, his remarkable 51-year career on the field was honored with an induction into the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame.

Looking back, Warwick treasures the fellowship, competition, and team camaraderie he experienced during his time as a Scot. His journey reflects the heart of Maryville College athletics. Warwick was a student-athlete who not only excelled in his playing days but also gave back to the game for a lifetime.

Jennifer Nash – Class of 2008
A four-year standout for the Scots, Jennifer Nash left her mark as one of the most decorated outside hitters in Maryville College volleyball history. From 2004–2007, Nash powered the Scots to three consecutive GSAC Championships, quickly establishing herself as a force on the court. She was named GSAC Freshman of the Year in 2004, before going on to claim GSAC Player of the Year honors in both 2006 and 2007. Her senior season culminated with All-American Honorable Mention recognition, highlighting her place among the nation's best.

Known for her competitive drive and leadership, Nash played a central role in cementing Maryville's status as a regional powerhouse. She helped deliver big performances in some of the Scots' most memorable matches, including a standout showing against Greensboro at the Emory University Tournament that caught the attention of the All-American selection committee.

Off the court, Nash cherished the bonds built with her teammates, including preseason three-a-days and Olive Garden road trip traditions, to once-in-a-lifetime moments like a senior-year private jet dinner and celebrating teammate Karen Tobias's NCAA digs record and national team tryout.
