LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Scots secured a 13-10 victory over LaGrange at Cleaveland Field on Thursday. The Scots orchestrated a decisive seven-run fourth inning, amassing 15 hits to overcome an early four-run deficit. The Panthers attempted a late rally with four runs in the final two innings but fell short in the high-scoring contest.
Det Dettwiller initiated the fourth-inning rally with a walk, followed by a single from
Frank Derner.
Colin Dunworth laid down a sacrifice bunt, advancing the runners into scoring position.
Logan Krause's sacrifice fly brought home the first run, and
Irvin Hernandez's RBI single tied the game.
Lucas Mendoza's double and a wild pitch put the Scots ahead. The inning concluded with
Masin Hall's two-run triple and
Brayden Evans' RBI triple, culminating in seven runs.
Maryville maintained its lead through effective situational hitting and defensive plays. In the fifth, Mendoza extended the advantage with a three-run homer, the first of his career, after singles by Krause and Hernandez. Despite the Panthers' late push, scoring two runs in the eighth and ninth innings, the Scots' bullpen held firm. The final threat from LaGrange was neutralized as Maryville navigated the ninth inning, leaving the tying run stranded on base and sealing the win.
Kyle Timko pitched 6 innings, allowing 11 hits and 4 earned runs, while striking out 3 batters.
Xavier Resto came in for 3 innings of relief, giving up 7 hits and 3 earned runs, with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk, and earned the save.
Looking ahead, Maryville will face the Panthers again at 2:00 and 5:00 tomorrow to cap off the regular season.
