DECATUR, Ga.-The Great South Athletic Conference announced its All-Conference teams for men's and women's tennis for the 2012 season earlier today with Agnes Scott College and Huntingdon splitting the women's top three individual honors while Piedmont, Covenant and Huntingdon earned one award for the Player, Freshman, and Coach of the Year awards on the men's side of the court.
Earning her third straight GSAC Player of the Year is Rachel Storz from Agnes Scott College who posted a perfect 7-0 record in league action while not dropping a set during conference play. Joining Storz as an individual award winner in 2012 was Taylor Clark of Huntingdon, who was named the Women's Tennis Freshman of the Year, finished 7-1 in GSAC play.
Helping his team to a second straight regular season championship, Agnes Scott Head Coach Glen Hill was named the GSAC Coach of the Year for the fourth time in five years.Hill led the Scotties to an 8-0 undefeated season and the No. 1 seed in the tournament this weekend.
For the men, John Hirte of Covenant earns his first Player of the Year honors. Finishing his season undefeated in conference play at 7-0, he didn't drop a single set during league play throughout the season. Along with Hirte, Zac Baldwin of Huntingdon nabs the Freshman of the Year award after going 5-3 during conference competition.
Leading his team to an 8-0 undefeated season, Piedmont's Shane Wood is the 2012 Men's Coach of the Year. With the perfect season, Piedmont joins Agnes Scott as the men's number one seed for the tournament this weekend.
