Scots end regular season with a double header sweep of Wesleyan

The Maryville College softball team closed out the regular season with a double header sweep of Wesleyan College on Sunday afternoon. MC won both games by the run rule, earning a 9-1 victory before an 8-0 shutout.

Sarah Reeder picked up the win for Maryville on the mound in game one. The senior allowed only five hits in a complete game effort. She struck out seven Pioneers while surrendering only one earned run.

Offensively, Maryville was paced by Hannah Youngdeer who went 3-for-3 with a game-high three RBI's. She stroked a single, double, and a triple en route to a perfect day at the plate. Brittany Henry was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI.

In the regular season finale, Corey Hairrell and Brittany Henry combined for a two-hit shutout of the Pioneer offense. Each pitcher surrendered a hit and Henry struck out five.

The Scots' nine hit attack was led by Andrew Brew who finished 3-for-3 with an RBI. Taylor Dockery was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Maryville advances to 13-21 on the season and 10-6 in Great South action. The Scots will host the upcoming GSAC Tournament beginning on Friday, April 27.
