Box Score The men's soccer team from Maryville College scored a goal in each half against USA South foe Ferrum College to gain a 2-0 victory on Friday evening in Ferrum, Virginia.
In the first half, Sean Yoder would strike in the 14th minute off a pass from Patrick Braxton. Maryville would have the better of the play in the first half, outshooting the Panthers 6-5 and having the only two corner kick opportunities during the opening forty-five minutes of play.
The second half would be the same song different verse. The Scots would once again find the back of the net less than a minute into the second half when Tim Baker played a ball to Brent Seltzer. Maryville would once again out shoot Ferrum 7-4. Ben Munger would pick up the shutout for his seventh win of the season.
"We played two good halves of soccer tonight," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "We were able to limit their chances offensively, while doing enough with the ball to get a pair of goals."
The win brings Maryville to 9-3-2 overall and 6-2 in USA South action. The Scots will conclude the regular season on Saturday as they travel to Greensboro College. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
