Box Score The Maryville College diamondmen used a 12 hit attack and a quality start by Keylon Holloway to defeat Centre College in a non-conference challenge by the score of 9-1 on MC's Scotland Yard this Tuesday evening.
MC's Holloway surrendered only three hits in five innings of work, shutting out the Colonels. Relievers James Ridgway, Jalen banks, Ryan Roach, and Taylor Denton closed the door to move MC to 11-11 on the season.
Maryville broke open a scoreless game when shortstop Nick Dean stroked a two-out bases clearing double down the left field line to plate three MC runs in the third inning. Designated hitter Landon Talley promptly sent Dean home with an RBI single to rightfield. A Chris hamilton RBI scored a run in the fourth and RBI singles by Talley and Dan Oakleif made the score 7-1 after seven complete innings. The Scots tacked on a pair of runs in the eighth when Dean laced a double over the centerfielder's head for two more runs driven in.
MC was paced by Nick Dean's 3-for-5, 5 RBI performance at the plate. Landon Talley finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI's. Catcher Shawn Ambrose added a 3-for-3 night with a pair of runs scored.
Centre falls to 8-7 on the season. MC will host the Colonels to conclude the home series on Wednesday. First-pitch on MC's Scotland Yard is slated for 3:00 p.m.
