Box Score Five Maryville College pitchers combined to scatter seven hits and MC's offense pounded out a dozen hits en route to a 5-2 win over Centre College on Wednesday afternoon on MC's Scotland Yard.
The Scots' Garrett McDaniel (1-1) allowed only three hits in five innings of work while striking out five Colonel hitters. Relievers Taylor Denton, Ryan Roach, Robbie Britt, and Nick Bowers closed the door with an inning of work each to shut down any Centre rally. Bowers earned his second save of the season.
Offensively, Maryville was paced by Matt Jones and Shawn Ambrose each collecting three hits. Ambrose had a pair of RBI's in the third on a single to left field while Nick Dean (2-for-2) added a pair of RBI's on two sacrifice flies in the first and fourth innings.
Centre falls to 8-8 on the season while Maryville advances to 12-11. The Scots will travel this weekend for a three-game series in Fayetteville, North Carolina to challenge USA South foe Methodist University.
