Box Score The Maryville College Lady Scots basketball team claimed their fifth consecutive victory with a 65-47 road win over North Carolina Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Maryville's defense held the Bishops to 27% shooting effort while the Scots knocked down 73% of their free throws and 40% of their shots from the field.
"I was very pleased with our defensive effort today," stated MC Head Coach Darrin Travillian. "We had a great effort up and down our roster. Obviously, we had great balance offensively and this team's unselfishness is amazing."
The Scots (13-3, 6-1 USA South) were led by Alex Bond's 6-for-9 shooting effort as the junior guard finished with a game-high 12 points. Mackenzie Puckett and Kelsey Brown each tossed in 11 points and nine rebounds while Jordan Ballard added 10 points.
NC Wesleyan (4-6, 2-2 USA South) could not find their perimeter touch going only 3-for-16 (18%) from beyond the arc. Tiffany Bell led the Bishops with 11 points while Shanice Goree recorded a game-high 11 rebounds.
Coach Travillian's squad will prepare for their next USA South challenge on Friday and Saturday. MC will take on Meredith and Mary Baldwin on the road next weekend.
