Box Score The Maryville College Lady Scots basketball team extended their win streak to six games with a come from behind 77-67 victory over Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina late Friday evening.
The host Avenging Angels out paced the Scots 39-35 before Maryville rallied to claim the key USA South road challenge with a 42-28 surge in the second half.
Trailing by a pair of possessions, an 11 point effort by Mackenzie Puckett and a 9 point run by Kelsey Brown combined with an MC defensive effort that held Meredith to 30% shooting allowed Maryville to pull away.
Meredith (4-8, 2-4 USA South) was paced by McKenzi Edwards' double-double. Edwards finished with a team-high 18 points while bringing down a game-high 11 rebounds. Kim Hinton added 14 points while Rah'Nika Jones deposited 13.
Maryville (14-3, 7-1 USA South) was led by Puckett's 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting. The sophomore went 5-for-6 from the free throw line, grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, and dished out a team-high four assists. Kelsey Brown was strong in the paint with 13 points on 50% shooting while also tearing down seven rebounds. Alex Bond added 10 points while Lauren Trent connected on three treys for 9 points.
The Scots will return to action on Saturday as they complete their USA South road trip with a challenge at Mary Baldwin College. Tip-off is slated for 4:00.
