Lady Scots Advance to USA South Semi-Finals with 70-63 Win Over NC Wesleyan

The Maryville College Lady Scots advanced to the semi-finals of the 2014 USA South women's basketball championships with a 70-63 win over North Carolina Wesleyan College in Ferrum, Virginia on Thursday evening.

 

MC's Alex Bond posted a double-double that featured a 10 point and game-high 10 rebound effort. Senior Lauren Burnett deposited 19 points and seven rebounds while senior Lailah Farmer sank 17 points. Jordan Ballard added 11 points and six boards. 

 

"I am so proud of my team tonight," stated MC Head Coach Darrin Travillian. "We battled throughout the game and never relented. Our seniors raleey pulled us through and we had strong contributions throughout the lineup."

 

The Battling Bishops finished the season 12-14 while out shooting the Scots from the floor and the perimeter. Tiffany Bell went 7-for-12 from the field for a game-high 20 points. Kenyata Harris added 19 points while hitting 9-of-16 shots.

 

Maryville will advance to challenge LaGrange College in the semi-final on Friday. Tip-off is slated against the Panthers at 5:00 on the campus of tournament host Ferrum College.
