Box Score The Maryville College Scots extended their win streak to 14 games and moved to 15-1 on the season behind a 94-26 complete team victory over USA South foe, Mary Baldwin.
The win brings the No. 20/21 Scots to a 7-0 league record – Maryville being the only USA South competitor with an unblemished mark. The 15-1 start is also the best start for the Scots' squad since at least 2000-2001, topping the 14-1 beginning to the 2012-13 season.
The contest also featured a 32-assist outing – a mark the bests this season's 31-assist day in an 86-51 over Covenant earlier this year.
The Scots held a decisive 50-8 halftime lead, shooting 52.6 percent from the floor, while holding the Fighting Squirrels to 3-of-20 clip.
Every member of the Scots' squad pitched in, each player scoring points.
Lauren Trent led all scorers with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Lauren Biliter added 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals for a complete day, while Jordan Ballard tallied 10 points. Senior post player Kelsey Brown hit 5-of-6 shots in the paint for 10 points while pulling down six rebounds
Mackenzie Puckett had nine points and six assists in only 8:00 of action, while freshman Brittany Johnson tallied a career high eight points and a career high eight assists in the contest. She also had two steals and four rebounds.
Alex Bond and Mindy Brackins each totaled seven points; Rachel Hawn, six; Haley Talbott, five; Linley Dunn, four; Lecretia Robbins, three; and Joanna Young, two.
Dunn led the Scots on the night with nine rebounds, as Maryville outpaced the Fighting Squirrels 47 to 26 on the boards. The Orange and Garnet also totaled 18 steals and four blocks in the USA South win, while shooting 55.2 percent (37-of-67) from the field and 13-of-28 (46.4 percent) from beyond the 3-points line.
Maryville's stingy defense held Mary Baldwin to a 19.1 percent outing (9-of-47), while forcing 24 turnovers against the Fighting Squirrels.
They were led by Kaybria Johnson's eight-point outing, while Teanna Peavy tallied five points and seven rebounds.
The Scots will have a five-game road swing featuring games against Methodist (1/26, 7 p.m.), Piedmont (1/31, 4 p.m.), Greensboro (2/2, 7:30 p.m.), Covenant (2/4, 7:30 p.m.) and LaGrange (2/7, 4 p.m.), before returning home on Feb. 14 to face off with Huntingdon. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m.
