Box Score The Scots' Sierra Siegel continues to climb through the Maryville College record books during her senior season.
The senior added a goal and two assists on Friday night, as she, along with fellow senior Allyson Hale, led the Scots past Greensboro College, 4-1.
With her performance, Siegel passes Lauren Metts and is now tied with Julie Dingles and Rachel Rushworth for sixth-best all-time in MC history with 27 career assits.
Those names carry some heavy distinction, as Dingles – a 2005 inductee into the Maryville College Wall of Fame – became the first female soccer athlete to be named to the Scots' prestigious wall.
A standout from Valrico, Fla., Siegel stands tied in assists with Dingles, as she trails her by only two points for sixth-best all-time with 131. Siegel currently has 129 after today's contest, as she needs only one goal to tie Dingles with 52 for seventh-best in Maryville women's soccer history.
However, Siegel wasn't the only one to put her name into the record books on Friday night.
MC's Hale tallied a pair of goals in the contest – the first and the last – as she ties Jaimie Roberts for 10th best goal total in an MC career. Hale has 42 career goals, as she tallied her 15th of the season late in the match against the Pride.
That goal matches Hales career high 15, while ranking 2015 for her as the 18th-best in Maryville history.
Hale also totals 102 career points, making her only the 11th women's soccer player to ever score 100-or-more points in a career in the Orange and Garnet.
Maryville (11-3-1, 8-1-1 USA South) got on the board first with a goal by Hale. The goal ranks as Hale's 14th of the season, this time off the assist from Siegel. Hale's goal curled from the top of the box into the upper left corner to give MC a 1-nil advantage at the 11:00 mark.
The Scots would waste no time, however, as head coach Pepe Fernandez knew which player to sub. Jordyn Lee entered the game, scoring Maryville's second goal of the game on her first touch. Siegel found the sophomore at the top of the box, as Lee used the high chip in for her third score of the year. Maryville led 2-0 at the 26:48 mark.
However, the Pride (9-6-1. 4-5-1) wouldn't take long to answer. Coming off the kickoff, Greensboro turned the field, as Lauren Greeson found Meghan Cole on a running goal on the Pride's second shot on goal of the game. At 27:04, Maryville led 2-1.
Siegel would continue her onslaught with a goal on a free kick after a Greensboro hand ball. The senior curled the ball right to left into the upper corner of the goal from 20 yards out. The Scots held a 3-1 advantage with 32:11 on the clock in the first half.
With under four minutes remaining, Hale would find her second goal of the match. The unassisted goal, her 15th of the season, would give Maryville at 4-1 USA South Athletic Conference win over Greensboro College.
Maryville will travel to Averett University tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 24, as they look for their 10th conference win this season.
