Box Score The Birmingham Southern Panthers used a solid second half to rally to defeat Maryville College 4-1 in women's soccer on Sunday morning.
Maryville's Allyson Hale took a Sierra Siegel pass and snuck it by Panther goal keeper Katie Williams at the 11:10 mark in the first half to give the Scots an early 1-0 lead.
MC would carry that advantage into the second period after each squad posted six shots on goal.
Birmingham Southern maintained constant pressure while attacking the Scots defense during the final period.
At the 54:43 mark, the Panthers' Avery Newcomb sent a cross off a corner kick that hit a Maryville defender to post an own goal to even the score.
Just two-minutes later BSC's Jessie Sperry secured the game-winning goal with an unassisted blast past MC keeper Mandy Marshall.
The Panthers' did not give Maryville many second half scoring opportunities and McKenna Boyd found Sarah Lombardi at the 67:40 mark to make the score 3-1.
Birmingham-Southern added another unassisted goal with ten minutes left in the challenge when Taylor Andrews deposited an unassisted goal.
Katie Williams earned the win in net for Birmingham Southern (2-1) with six saves.
The Scots fall to 2-1 on the season and will prepare to host Agnes Scott College for their next challenge on Tuesday, September 15th. Kickoff is slated for 8:00 p.m.
