Box Score Maryville College's Casey Gentile lifted the Scots to a 2-1 win, after the senior deposited the Golden Goal into the lower left of the net just 1:23 into the first overtime.
Gentile took a pass from Kara Tubb to the left post, as she found the corner of the net for the thrilling overtime win over Agnes Scott.
With the victory, Maryville moves to 7-3-1 in the USA South, while holding a 7-6-1 record overall.
The Scots proved a force on Friday night, as they peppered Scottie goalkeeper, Iara Morton. Morton saw 28 shots on the afternoon, 16 of those connecting in frame.
She had 14 saves, allowing just two goals.
The potent Maryville defense held Agnes Scott to only eight total shots – five on goal – as Mandy Marshall turned away four. She earned her seventh win in goal for Maryville this year.
The Scots saw 11 different players post shots on the afternoon, as Kaitlyn Kennedy led Maryville with five. Natasha Enrique and Yarissa Castro each had four, while each of Enrique's were in frame.
Maryville started the scoring on Friday, as Enrique earned her fourth goal of the season. She took a pass from Taylor Wipf in the top of the box, before she made three defenders miss. She fell to the ground, regained herself, and deposited it in the lower left corner of the net for a 1-0 Maryville lead, just 24:10 into the match.
It would be the second half before scoring would resume. Nia Coates found her fifth goal of the year just 55 seconds into the second half. She rebounded a deflected shot from Jasmine Young. Her kick hit the top post, bounced down to the goal line. It bounced again, hitting the post and kicking in for a goal. The score knotted things at 1-all, before Gentile's overtime kick ended the match, 2-1.
Her shot was the only shot of the overtime period.
The Scots tallied 10 corner kicks to the Scotties' two.
Maryville will be in action again tomorrow, as they host Wesleyan College (Ga.).
The Scots will honor their nine seniors before the match: Mandy Marshall, Eleni Mavres, Casey Gentile, Gabby Bilstrom, Rachel Leal, Mackenzie Hutton, Grace Puryear, Janelle Calhoun and Kaitlyn Kennedy.
First touch for Maryville's match with the Wolves is set for 2 p.m.
