The Maryville College tennis teams had a split on Sunday afternoon, as they faced Averett University in USA South Athletic Conference action.
Maryville's women's team defeated the Cougars, 6-3. Averett was too much for the Scots on the men's side, however, as Maryville fell 8-1.
Caitlin Jennings (6-2, 6-1), Katie Stephens (6-7, 6-4, 10-5), Jenny Pavlides (6-2, 6-0) and McKennah Francis (7-5, 6-2) each won their singles matches for the Scots on Saturday, before Jennings and Savannah Bain paired up for an 8-6 doubles match victory. Stephens and Madison Reilly followed suit with an 8-0 shutout of their own in doubles play.
For the men, Daniel Silva was the lone winner for the Scots, as he defeated Oliver Lindqvist by a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Maryville's women move to .500 on the season, holding a 3-3 overall record and a 2-2 record within USA South play. Averett falls to 1-4 and 0-1 in conference action.
The Scots' men fall to 1-4-1, while holding a 1-3 record in the USA South. Averett goes to 4-1, while holding a 1-1 mark in league play.
