Box Score Maryville College remains as the only undefeated team in USA South Western Division play, after the Scots downed the Huntingdon College Hawks, 48-45, in Montgomery, Ala.
The Scots' Allyson Freiermuth had another huge game – her third in a row. The senior forward tallied her third-straight double-double behind her 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Since the start of 2017, Freiermuth has had three-straight double-doubles, while averaging 16 points and 14.67 rebounds per contest. In those three contests, Freiermuth has had 48 points and 44 rebounds.
The senior has led Maryville to an 11-3 record on the season, as they hold a 3-0 mark in USA South play.
Maryville fought to an 18-9 lead after the first quarter, but Huntingdon would outscore the Scots 19-10 in the second quarter for a 28-28 tie at the break. Maryville would edge the Hawks in the second half with a 20-point outing.
Maryville (11-3, 3-0 USA South) saw Freiermuth added two blocks, an assist and a steal in her double-double effort. She was followed by Haley Talbott's nine-point effort, as the junior hit a trio of treys. Talbott also had three rebounds and three assists.
Rachel Hawn had six points, four rebounds, two assists and a block in the game, as well. Lauren Biliter had five points, eight rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block, while Libby Gardner had five points.
Lecretia Robbbins had four points, while Amber Hudgens had two points. She had five rebounds and a game-high three blocks for Maryville. Brittany Johnson added a point.
The Scots shot 32.2 percent (19-of-59) from the floor. They bucketed only four treys on a 28.6 percent clip, while knocking down 6-of-8 free throws. MC out-rebounded the Hawks, 45-42, while they dominated the paint with 30 points.
Huntingdon (10-3, 3-1 USA South) was held to a 16-of-61 effort from the floor, as they made six 3-pointers on the afternoon.
The Hawks saw Juliette Harp finish with a double-double 14 points and 11 rebounds, while she added three blocks. Jenna Dorman had 10 points, while T.I. Duncan had nine points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Maryville will take their Western Division record back on the road tomorrow, as they travel to LaGrange College. Tipoff against the Panthers is set for 4 p.m.
