Maryville College swept USA South foe Berea College on Tuesday afternoon, as the Scots even their conference record at 1-1.
MC swept the opening doubles matches, allowing just three points for the Mountaineers. McKennah Francis and Carter Dickinson earned an 8-2 doubles victory, as Anastasia Dunn and Kayla Zimmerman followed suit with an 8-1 win. Savannah Bain and Kaleigh Basilio shutout their doubles match with a perfect 8-0 score.
In singles play, top-seeded Francis toppled Erin Goodpaster, 6-2, 6-3. Dunn and Basilio both scored double bagels with 6-0, 6-0 wins over Emma Lee Nelson and Sharon Ngassa in the fourth and sixth seeds.
Zimmerman defeated Agnes Dotse in the second-seed match, 6-2, 6-2, while Dickinson downed Jaden Johnson, 7-6, 6-4. Baine rounded out the sweep with a win over Eulalaia Garcia with matching 6-1 sets.
Maryville College will return to action on Saturday, March 30. The Scots play host to USA South foe LaGrange College, as first serve is set for 2 p.m.
