Maryville Falls to Covenant 9-0
MARYVILLE – Covenant took down Maryville 9-0 Tuesday evening, with the Scots showing fight at several positions.
Maryville won 13 games on the singles side against last year's USA South tournament runner-up squad.
"We wanted to see if we could improve from Piedmont to Covenant and we certainly did that," Maryville head coach Doug Corbett said.
Kyle Shaver took five games in his second set in the No. 1 spot. Shaver and his doubles partner, Cooper Newman, also took home a game as the top pair for the home-standing Scots.
Another strong participant for Maryville was Seth Green. He picked up two games in No. 2 doubles with partner Keshawn Haynes and also had four game wins in the sixth solo spot.
The Scots' march through league play continues this weekend. A road match at Huntingdon awaits Maryville on Friday before the Scots take on LaGrange on Saturday.
